HE LOVED TO PLAY BASKETBALL
BUT WAS MUCH BETTER AT BUSINESS.
Howard Rothbein, president of HR Industries satisfies his love of basketball by sponsoring, donating and helping to support this inner-city teen basketball program. His appointment to the New York Dragon board brings him closer to the game he’s loved since childhood.
The Dragon program primarily deals with inner city youth, encouraging them in both academic leadership and athletics. The goal is to develop strong, disciplined young athletes of character and integrity; to showcase the student athlete talents on and off the court; and to expose them to college recruiters to further provide them with student-athlete opportunities.
Like many self-made businessmen, Howard believes in “giving back.” His hard-scrabble childhood in New York City is a constant reminder of the tough times others face. For Howard this is a prime motivator to invest in others. The primary goal of the Dragon basketball program is for kids to learn the sport and have fun. These kids love basketball and play it well. Some play it well enough to win college scholarships. The Dragon program not only help kids, it changes lives.
Involvement in the New York Dragons program is part
of an ongoing commitment at HR Industries to
reach out and support many different worthy efforts.
